The study on the differences of parenting styles and parenting activities according to child`s characteristics reported by parents

Abstract

|
This research was proceeded figure out the profiles of parenting styles and parenting activities according to child’s characteristics reported by parents. Subjects were 385 parents with 209 of fathers and 176 of mothers, one of whose child is under 91 month-old. Fathers and mothers had proceeded to fill out questionnaires of 123 items asking the characteristics of their child, parenting activities they provide a day when they are with their preschooler child at home, and the questionnaires of MBRI-R, Maternal Behavior Rating Index Revised. Those data were analysed by SPSS WIN. 13. to get 1) the correlations between parenting styles, parenting activities and child characteristics, 2) the results of independent t-tests with according to the subscales of child’s characteristics, 3) and the results of regressions with independent variables of characteristics of child’s and dependent variables of parenting styles and activities. The results showed those characteristics reported by parents have strong correlations with parents’ style of parenting and nurturing activities they provide to their child.
